    Default Mpeg2 vs Mpeg4

Hi can we discuss the above formats. And are there ways you can convert mpeg2 receivers to mpeg4 as you can in a normal video file.

Not much to discuss about this yet as its a problem ahead for most of the satellite enthusiasts, and untill we have had and experienced the problems as they come the experiences are yet minimal.
Some are already preparing their Mpeg4 decoders, while we also think of how best to utilize what we have in position without spending too much.
I would think of a converter making the old systems still useful, but I do think the manufacturers would rather sell new than use the old boxes they had already sold with converters.
Let all show up their experience on this change for us to get a way forward - otherwise called a short cut, and thats what the thread is looking for.
Or lets all just buy new Mpeg4 and HD decoders

MPEG2 and MPEG4 compatible receivers have different Video Decoder.

theoretically, you can. but don't expect the quality of a real mpeg4 if you convert from mpeg2.

Yes bro , when we have new Mpeg 4 decoders in hand then we can discuss this thread widely. But right now we only have very less channels in HD.

    Thx.

Thanks to pals Yan, Boknoy, and madscientist,
from this ideas that each one has, we can make out a converter from one of the old decoders to accept both systems.
Only we havent had a real chance on the system coming handy, but waiting for the spread on sats and decoders on HD and Mpeg4.

There's already a gadget called "upscaler". It improves and enlarge the picture quality.
