    Dreambox is always a supper option in any circumstance,
    and dm 500 would give you quite a good start,
    try it out you'll be fine.

    The Astrovox (one of the models) has options of loading software
    from flashdisk, but that still does not put it anywhere near the dreambox lot.

    nothing in life is free, if that's what you are after. these commercial cs based receivers will ALWAYS find ways for you to cough up your money every once in a while to recoup their investment in relation to firmware development, cost of servers and subscriptions being shared.

    having said that, go for dreambox. but at least get a legal subscription to exchange to your peers. true, there are others out there who don't have any local and willing to share it to you for free, but they are far and few in between.

    You may be referring to the Eurovox Quantum - six months free and then pay server afterwards

    they just change the name. this happened with visionnet. linksat. etc... etc.

    @djmufty,

    if that's what you want, then you are better off with having those commercial cs receivers. you have to study and learn how to do cs on a dreambox. pretty easy actually, but it's not as simple as plug and watch either.
