    Default USB TO COMPORT ERROR

    Dear RDI friends,

i have a problem with the new usb to serial port device.

Recently i have bought a usb to comport to use with my laptop for

software upgrading for viva and humax receiver ,there is a cd with that

    device .

the cd need to run manually for drivers, after installing the drivers i have

tried to upgrade my viva receiver with the help of loader and configured

232 cable which previously i have used with my desktop and its works ok.

after loading the file into the loader when i click the 'SEND TO IRD'button

    its show COMPORT 1 ERROR.

    any comments about this error.

    Regards

Go to your control panel - device manager - ports, and configure your usb to serial device port settings to either com 1 or com2.

as jimiski said, change the settings to COM1 or COM2 and then configure it in the updating software properly. Dont forget to change the Baud rate also, mostly receivers dont connect on higher baud rate.

regardless of your OS, you should configure the port accordingly. most of the installers will configure your port to use comport 4 or higher, so you have to set it manually to com1 or 2. is your usb adaptor using the prolific chipset? if so, look for the driver file wd-pl-2303h_hx_x_v20026 from the manufacturer site and try using that. good luck.
