Eredivisie Live launches August 29
July 10, 2008
The new Dutch football channel Eredivisie Live from Endemol and Dutch clubs will launch on August 29 on UPC, Ziggo, KPN Interactieve TV, Digitenne and Tele2 Vision. For the moment, there is no contract with DTH provider Canal Digitaal.
The new channel will be financed by Endemol, John de Mol’s Talpa and the Royal Bank of Scotland, but Eredivisie CV chairman Frank Rutten declined to comment on the percentages of each party. Together, they guarantee the Dutch clubs €60 million. The new channel hopes to get between 300,000 and 400,000 subscribers, who will each pay between €10 and €15 a month.
Next month, a marketing campaign will be launched to sell the channel under the slogan “it must be love.” The new channel owns the rights to all live games for a period of five years.
The Dutch public broadcaster NOS holds the rights to the highlights, for which it will pay €21 million per season.
