    History Channel debuts in Central Europe

    MIPTV - CANNES. The History Channel is launching for the first time in Central Europe with both SD and HD versions of the network to debut in Poland and Hungary. The announcement was made by The History Channel UK, a joint venture between A&E Television Networks (AETN) and British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB).

    In Poland, the SD service of The History Channel is available from Toya and UPC Polska, while Aster City is offering the network’s SD and HD services. In Hungary, the SD service of the channel is available at UPC Hungary, while T-Kabel is offering both the SD and HD services of The History Channel.

    The History Channel HD broadcasts 100% HD content, and offers a separate schedule from the standard definition sibling. The History Channel broadcasts in language versions in Polish and Hungarian.

    Chello Zone, a business unit of Chellomedia, serves as distribution representative for The History Channel to pay TV platforms in Poland and Hungary, as well as the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Further launches in the region will be announced in the upcoming months.
