UEFA has awarded the media rights in Romania to TVR and Boom TV for the UEFA Champions League between 2009 and 2012 and UEFA Super Cup from 2009 to 2011.

    Rights packages
After the first round of bidding, Boom TV was awarded pay television rights packages including exclusive coverage of all live matches on a Tuesday and Wednesday other than the first choice match on each night. In addition, Boom TV will show non-exclusive highlights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and a weekly magazine programme.

    TV coverage
Coverage will be on the pay television channel Boom Sport One as well as other Boom Sport branded channels on Boom TV's premium DTH platform. The rights will also be exploited via the internet on www.boomextra.ro and on mobile.

    Bidding round
TVR was the winner of a second round of bidding that focused upon the first choice live matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It will show these games on its free-to-air channel TVR 1 as well as showing highlights on both nights and a weekly magazine programme on a combination of TVR 1 and TVR 2. These rights will be exploited across all broadcast platforms – on the internet via www.tvr.ro and on wap.tvr.ro, TVR's mobile portal.

    Level of commitment
"We welcome the opportunity to develop a successful partnership with a new partner in Romania in the form of Boom TV," said UEFA. "UEFA is also delighted to extend its collaboration with TVR on UEFA Champions League. The level of commitment shown confirms the strength of broadcaster interest in the world's best club football competition. UEFA also wishes to thank Pro TV, who have been a valued partner for ten seasons and have done a fantastic job of broadcasting the UEFA Champions League during that time."
