    Default newbie in satellite tv receivers


    Hi! I am from the philippines and would like to have knowledge with satellite tv receivers that can be used in the philippines.
    Where would I start? Can someone give me the basics in this area?

    hi bro qabuz,,,i guess u need to decide what type of channels u want to watch,,,if only fta(free to air),,,there are many receivers available .if u r interested in encrypted channels,,u will either need to get a valid subscription card and a receiver with a card slot capable of decoding the subscription package,,,or,,there are alternatives involving "card share" with recievers that are connected to the internet also,and update the keys from another source over the net.a popular stb for this is dreambox,,,but be warned,,,there is a lot of learning required to make one of these system operate.
