You could take vinayr's advice , but please be aware that this is the most expensive and unaffordable sat dealer in the whole of Thailand !
The reason : it is run by Jon Clarke the New Zealand expat who charges near New Zealand prices. He is indeed the nUmber 1 expert in Thailand but at nearly 30 dollars (800 baht) an hour his Co's service charges are way over the top by Thai pricing standards . The average wage in Bangkok is below seven dollars or 200 baht A DAY ! Most Thais simply cannot afford his charges.
Try Sat thai on www.satthai.tv or Bangkok Cable tv on www.bkkcabletv.com. Alternatively try www.mastersatcom.com or www.siamdst.com.
As they say in Cockney slang ...you pays your money and takes your choice !

    Hi Yan,
Is Satthai still around? I thought he was mired in all the controversies regarding some sales. I wanted to buy from him, but they wouldn't pick up the phone. So what is the best option to buy genuine DM500?

Once again you fail to understand, if you want the genuine products and top line service, it has to be paid for.. Sure he's a bit pricy, but he only calls round once, not once a week until it works. His business ethos is also not geared for Thai's but ex-pats who don't mind paying for the services they get.

As for your little cockney slang,, ''you pays your money and takes your choice " it should be "takes your chance" But please don't let a little alteration get in the way of a good story. But the other saying might be more applicable,, "pay Peanuts, get Monkeys"

And if you think he's expensive, Please don't ever attempt to get into the world of "High-end Audio" you might care to peruse these web sites,,

    http://www.highendpalace.com/index.htm or http://www.audiogon.com/

    .......
    Hi Bassett,
Following C-band advice, I was thinking of taking the chance with Jsat but am waiting for some more advices. I am still wary of Satthai(whether it's the same old guy) since my last trip to Bangkok...they just won't answer the phone.
What i need to know from you, Bassett, is whether you recommend the dealers mentioned above. Since I am not based in Thailand, Most of the services offered by them(even installation) may not be necessary.
    so what do you say?

While I have never bought anything from John Clarke , [jsat TV] He's never done the wrong thing to anyone, that I know off, and is an honest businessman.
But as your not in Thailand, you could try Jim in Taiwan [ird*to2 enginner] a simply PM will find him, and his prices are also reasonable

Actually your very wise avoiding the Phuket based satthai or phuketsatellite or E-direct, or whatever else he calls himself these days.

On the other hand the satthai company in Bangkok, has no connection with our SHONKY friend in Phuket
    regards from OZ bassett

I know John Clarke ( JSAT tv ) personally. His wife Anne is responsible for pricing ( i think ) .
John's honest and a bit of a legend with the dreambox . There ain't much he doesn't know about them ( he's doing some awesome stuff with them )
Just wish I'd documented half the stuff he showed me.
