Japan launches high-speed Internet satellite
February 23rd, 2008
Japan has launched a satellite aimed at providing high-speed Internet access across Asia, after a one-week delay. The experimental satellite is looking at how to ensure broadband-speed services across Asia, even when terrestrial infrastructure goes down. The Kizuna launched at 0855 UTC this morning from the Space Centre on the small island of Tanegashima off the southern tip of Kyushu Island, southern Japan.
