China’s CCTV opens three channels in Cuba
February 20th, 2008

China’s state-run China Central Television opened three channels in Cuba on Sunday. The move completes a three-phase project that started in November 2004. CCTV has now expanded its reach from 30,000 hotel rooms to 45,500. It can also be seen in health, education and diplomatic centres.

Cuban and Chinese officials said the countries plan to make TV a bridge of understanding and friendship between them. Cuban TV programs are available in 16 Chinese provinces as part of the bilateral project. China is the first Asian nation to receive the Cuban broadcasts.
