Swisscom selected as Swiss partner for UEFA EURO 2008

Swisscom is to transmit pictures from the UEFA EURO 2008 European Football Championship from the stadium in Switzerland to UEFA's international broadcast centre in Vienna.

As part of its involvement in UEFA EURO 2008, Swisscom will be responsible for the transmission network for delivery of the pictures. Swisscom Broadcast will transmit the television signals received from the four Swiss and four Austrian stadiums to the UEFA International Broadcast Centre in Vienna. From there, they will be broadcast all over the world.

The contract includes all the management as well as monitoring of the quality of the signal transmission. The signals will be transported in Switzerland via the Swisscom Fixnet network, which will also be expanded for UEFA EURO 2008. Network services in Austria will be provided by UEFA’s Austrian partner.

As the official telecommunications equipment supplier to UEFA EURO 2008, Swisscom will provide the voice and data networks at the match venues and be responsible for their availability. Swisscom will be represented as one of four national supporters in the official fan zones in Switzerland.
