Default Still trying to tune to Yamal 202.. need your expert advice?

    Dear Friends.

Following the advice of some of you, I was able to get a teflon plate and insert in the LNB.

Now my biggest problem is locating to Yamal 202 - my dish does not have proper markings either, nor does LNB so its very hard to tune.

So far, I'm able to tune to IntelSat 12 perfectly (using a KU LNB)

Please experts, can you advice me how to locate Yamal 202, such as:

    1. What is the strongest transponder/frequency on Yamal 202 (so I can use that when trying to locate/tune.
    2. I'm confused as to how to rotate the LNB. Do you have any suggestions For example, in relation to the location of asiasat how many degrees do I rotate the LNB (CW/CCW)

    Please advice

    thanks to you all!

I've been able to get all my C band satellites just by adjesting the Azimuth & Elevation only. I never rotate the LNB (CW or CCW) but I get all the satellite signals without doing that.
If you can get IntelSat 12 perfectly then you have to rotate the dish 2-3 digrees from West to South direction & move the dish upward 5 degrees.

    Hope this will help you

My KU band LNB is different from the C band one (both are technosat) I'm not sure how to rotate the C Band LNB to correspond with the KU band LNB

One thing is the C band lnb has a marking of -30 - 0 +30 but unfortunately the LNB holder has no markings on it to match with the degrrees on the LNB itself.

Dimu: are you able to get Asiasat3 clearly on your dish (with LNB in same position as when watching Yamal202)?

How strong is Yamal202? Is it easy to find or a weak signal?

can you tell me - what are the strongest transponders/signals/channels on Yamal202 I want to select that when locating the satellite.

    thank you all so much

lank22 yes I get Asiasat 3 clearly. At the same LNB position, just by rotating the dish to the correct angle & puting that plate inside your LNB, you can catch the signal.

Try this link to get the frequencies http://www.lyngsat.com/yamal202.html

Yamal202 signal is not weak as far as I can see.

With your location. Intelsat 12 can catch with Azimath 260.194 & Elevation 48.824
    Yamal 202 Azimath 258.608 & Elevation 53.250

Use the TV Lanka1&2 frequency to tune into Yamal202. Its very strong. I'm getting all channels from Yamal202 except Art Prime Sports.

Good How is your signal quality? For me TV Komi 98% and Ren 72%.

    @Alanpaladka

I also don't always get Art Prime Sports. Because of its low symbol rate, may be the problem.

No. I've set my 6FT dish to Yamal. So I'm not getting it. But in my 12FT dish, I'm getting 80% signal.

But I am getting 98% when my receiver finds it. But not always.

What is the signal quality for other tps on your 6 feet and 12 feet?
My lnb is now little out of focus so these details will help me in optimising the dish.

Good to hear you filannly got Yamal 202.
Don't watch too much of 2XX movies on weekend nights

Türksat 42.0°E is out of reach for Sri Lanka. See the footprint

thank you all for help getting Yamal 202!
main problem was I was searching for signal with vertical polarity whereas I should have put Horizontal (equivalent to left)

Have noticed that LNB skew makes no difference to this satellite.

Re: signal strength this receiver doesnt show exact number but I would say its about 50 - 60% which is OK.

Main problem I now realize is there's absolutely no english content on Yamal (which makes sense as its russian)... A pity really.

For anyone trying to find Yamal 202 I would suggest following (It is what I learned now from all suggestions given by you and my experiments)
    1. Use teflon plate
    2. Use Horizontal on tuner
    3. Locate Intelsat 12 KU (easy) and from there put C band LNB and try moving dish (reduce elevation), on same azimuth should be able to pick up a trace of signal, after which one can change azimuth a bit to finetune.

Actually from the first time I got a dish long ago I've been learning from here (RDI) though did not sign up till now, so thank you all for your useful contributions and help

    @lnb15k
I'm getting 70% signal from TV Lanka on my 6FT dish. Other tps have average of 50% signal. ART Prime sport has no signal.

In 12FT dish, All tps have 99% signal if I put Teflon plate. Only ART prime Sport has 80-90% signal. May be my lnb has few problems.

By the way, are you watching art prime sports? Do you have compatible receiver for that? Its b.i.s.s. encrypted. I don't have keys for the Yamal 202 channels.
