Hungarian MPs pass bill on digital broadcasting
Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

The Hungarian parliament, by a vast majority, amended the act on digital broadcasting yesterday to make the new technology predominant by 2012. Accordingly Hungary can switch from analogue terrestrial transmissions to the most modern digital broadcasting in line with its EU obligations. As part of the transition, each broadcaster will have the option to transmit five to ten television channels and other supplementary services using the same bandwidth taken up by one analogue channel.
