Radio Budapest to end all foreign language broadcasting
Monday, June 4th, 2007
Reports over the last few days in DX Listening Digest (DXLD) say that Radio Budapest is closing down its remaining foreign language broadcasts on shortwave by 30 June. As we previously reported, following the phasing out of the use of freelancers at the end of February, the Italian service closed immediately, and now the French service is reported to have made its final transmission on Friday 1 June. According to Kai Ludwig, quoting the German service, an official announcement is scheduled for 13 June.

The website of Radio Budapest is hopelessly out of date, and makes no reference to the cuts or closure. Indeed, the Italian service details are still there, last updated on 19 November 2004!
