    Default Dreambox-accessing through Web Browser

When I access the dreambox through web browser-(I use Firefox-but for IE also same) and try to get the video stream on your PC an error message comes saying a plugin is missing.
When I try to download the plugin automatically it fails.
How to download manually- I mean which plugin should be installed to view the video streaming?

    Yes of course.
Connect your Dreambox to the computer.
Go to your web browser and type http:// followed by the IP address of your dreambox.
You will be able to control the dreambox from the PC.
You can watch the channels-change them etc

PS: This is exactly I wanted to do when I started the thread Dreambox tips and tricks for absolute beginners-which was drowned!

i have a mac, and VLC would not work for me whatsoever...

i have a clonebox... i'm wondering if that has anything to do with it... but i found a way round...

i downloaded a program called idreamX and used the option within that program to open the feed in "mplayer"

the picture is fairly stable, there are a few breakups, but its ok...

took me a while to figure this out... now i just gotta figure out if i can do it from outside my wireless network

I tried to access the Dreambox by giving its IP address in the Browser; i.e.

    http://192.168.1.24

It asked me for a login & password I have not kept any password for DM500S I looked for any "default" username & password in DM manual but there was none

I'm pretty sure it also depends what image you have on your dreambox whether this streaming will work or not.
Enigma works, not sure about the others.
