Default SAT METER or Spectrum Analyzer ??

Please any one with knowledge on sat-shops with the lowest costs on spectrum analyzers and sat meters, point me that direction.
Nothing fancy, just affordable and works.
Preference on dubai market, but still any would do.
even used ones on resale, need one for a purpose.

    hi all,
i am using spectrum analysers HP-8954E,ANRITSU MS2711B,PROMAX MC-377,and recently i have got PROMAX-26 for Docsis and EURODOCSIS but its very expansive PROMAX-26 is around $2700 but its good to have a spectrum if you are working in the cable field easy to find the faults.

    IPTV,
you should dispense some of them to me.
I was just checking on a satellite on a promax prodig 1, satellite hunter and the cost for such a small instrument is marvelous, having had one before and checking what it consists of, i never see the reason why it should be more costly than a simple P3 computer.
but once you mention the satellite equipment you find costs are higher than what they are actually meant or should be according to me! WHY?

well if your just hobbyist the economical is the sat buster of fraccarro which around 350€ but you need to preset the transponder you always use, for advance user prodig 1 or unaohms s22 which cost around 750€ the function is almost complete it has NIT to see the ch. id of transponder youve been aiming and BER , and for sophisticated user you need to have unaohms 3000evo which have mpeg2 cost around 3,500€

    so make your choice....

    cheers

unless you have a feasible plan of recouping the cost of a spectrum analyzer, then go for it. but some hobbyists do have some extra money to burn, lol.

    Hi sir Boknoy,
I need one for a launches, and for the young enthusiasts in satellite, they actually want to know how good or useful the equipment is.
some even want to carry it around all the time, rather than have a sat meter etc, in cases where you are always installing to the same satellite.
for some its to kill the curiosity, though work gets perfect and easy.
I am actually changing for sat meters for quantity, and only two or three promax prodig 1s.

a cheap alternative if you have already a laptop is to buy a software that emulate a spectrum analyzer! spectrum got only a controller/microprocessor while a laptop have a full blown pentium processor!

in university labs they use a desktop( & add on cards) & others programs for signal analysis, they used also that in designing a stand alone spectrum analyzer!

If you have a Relook you can use a spectrum analyzer plugin.
But alternatively the computer option sounds pretty good.

i got one on my old laptop before a virus zaps all my files(reformat it), i got it from one of my friend's friend (steal if that what u call it)who brought his laptop for repair ! it's copy protected, so some features won't work.

just use any web search engine, or browse any electronic mags (juz get the address, , don't buy) there's loads of software for experimenter there! then buy it at e-bay.

It does exist cogil. As far as I know it's only made for the Relook but I'm sure someone clever enough could make it to work on a dreambox aswell.
Chputney is the guy that developed this plugin and he's a pretty helpfull guy.
