    Default Why-upgrade

    I feel amased that members load new software to a normal working Digital Receiver.WHY.?
    Why load a new version when it is working properly.
    As I have been advised, why fix it when it is working efficiently.
    A Satellite hobbist will only do it when the new software will improve the functions, and make it work better.
    I have been advised that when u load a new software, always save the old software so that if the new loaded softwares works funny, u can go back to the old saved software.

    Default The procedure how to upgrade Humax 5400 ,5400z

    To be able to enjoy your Humax, you need :

    1) a null modem cable
    2) the Humax Toolbox
    3) the latest Firmware
    4) the latest Settings
    5) the latest PMC Table
    6) the latest Keybin

    Item 1) null modem cable - you have to buy and is very cheap to get (or you can build one by yourself)

    Items 2) to 6) are luckily always available free on this Forum.

    To be able to perform items 3 to 6 mentioned above you always need the Humax Toolbox referred to at item 2 above so start by downloading it to your PC

    Then just follow this quide here of how to perform items 3 to 6 successfully starting with item 3)

    How to upload the latest firmware

    Requirements :

    Humax Toolbox
    +Cam Firmware Hot Emu xx (with extension HDF) Unzipped File
    Null Modem Cable attached between PC and Receiver

    1. Put Receiver on a FTA Channel and put it in Standby position (ensure to put in ON or STANDBY position always from the Receiver itself and not with Remote)
    2. Connect PC to Receiver with RS 232 Null Modem Cable
    3. From the Humax Toolbox select and start the Humax Uploader Version 2.O Program (you can also use HDFSmart).
    4. Set up the correct Com Port
    5. Click Open File
    6. Double Click on File Name
    7. An Information Screen pops up saying “File is unknown. Install at your own risk”’
    8. Click OK
    9. Click Upload (PC->STB)
    10. Turn On Receiver from Standby position. At this point, a progress bar appears on PC and a simultaneous one on the TV screen
    11. When download is ready, on the TV screen you will see: “End. Press Standby Key”
    12. Press Standby Key on your receiver.
    13. Then with the Remote select: Menu, Toh, Config (CAID Preselect) and select Card+Emu (vide Note 15 below)
    14. Patch is complete
    15. The following options (found under CAID Preselect) and their meanings are set out below for information and guidance:

    CARD+EMU => For Emulator DEFAULT use + ****** (2) card (fast zap)
    CARD+EMU+S => For Emulator + Card Sharing (Premiere + Irdeto2)
    CARD+S+EMU => For Emulator + Card Sharing (Premiere + Cryptoworks)
    CARD+S+EMU also support CAM with Conax card in EMU mode (slow zap)
    CAS1 => For Emulatorek/Wallbanger auto switch
    CAS2 => For Nagra Aladin test
    CAS3 => For people with SkyCrypt and Conax supported CAM's
    CAS4 => For people with Nagra supported CAM's or ****** 2 test
    CAS5 => For Cryptoworks test
    CAS6 => For SHL test

    16. Having done this, you now need to proceed to item 4)

    How to upload the latest Channel List

    1. Save the latest unzipped Settings File in the Folder of your choice
    2. Connect your PC and Receiver by RS- 232C Null Modem Cable
    3. Put your Receiver on a FTA Channel

    5. Select the Channel Editor Humbox V 4.1 Program (you can use also HNFSmart).
    6. On the Humbox V 4.1 Program, click on `File` and `Open`
    7. Then select and double-click on the saved unzipped file referred to at 1 above
    8. Your PC screen now displays the details of the new Channel Settings
    9. Go to Edit and Options and select the correct Com Port and Press OK
    10. Go again to Edit and Options, then to Model, type your System ID (if you don’t know or forgot your System ID, with your Remote Control go to Menu, Installation, Status and STB Status and you’ll find it listed there) and press OK
    11. Go to IRD and press on `Download to Humax`
    12. At this stage, a message pops up: Waiting for Humax Connection
    13. Press the Standby button on your Receiver to turn it to On position.
    14. The download starts immediately. Now wait for the Channel List to be downloaded.
    15. When ready, put Receiver in Standby position
    16. Put Receiver in On position
    17. Now the new Channel List is downloaded.
    18. Go to Menu, ToH and press on Config, then choose CAID
    Preselect and select Card+Emu

    Next step is to proceed to item 5)

    10. On the same screen, press STB and Download
    11. At this stage, a message pops up: PC to STB “Waiting for Humax Connection”
    12. Press the Standby button on your Receiver
    13. The download starts immediately. Now wait for the PMC Table to be downloaded to your PC
    14. When ready, put Receiver in Standby position
    15. Put Receiver in On position
    16. Now the new PMC Table is downloaded.
    17. Go to Menu, ToH and press on Config, then choose CAID Preselect and select Card+Emu

    and finally item 6)

    Uploading the Key.Bin

    Requirements:

    FunCard (programmed with any 6in1 file) inserted in embedded slot of Receiver
    RS-232C Null Modem Cable
    Humax Toolbox
    Latest KeyBin File

    Uploading the Key.Bin

    10. When download is ready, put Receiver in Standby position (from the Receiver itself)
    11. Put Receiver in On position (again from the Receiver itself)
    13. Go to Menu, ToH and press Config, then choose CAID Preselect and select Card + Emu
    14. Keys are now successfully installed.

    Default For Masood

    Thank you Masood for the very good tread published in the day 25th of May. I appreciate a lot this message not only for me but specially for some dummy. Howewer, I need small help about it. You wrote:
    CAS 2 => for Nagra Aladin test
    CAS 4 => for ****** 2 test
    CAS 5 => for Cryptoworks test
    CAS 6 => for SHL test (?)
    (other sentences are clear)

    What do you mean with this?
    Is it possible to watch Nagra Aladin, or ****** 2, or Cryptoworks channels? I knew VR3 penta card + cam for cryptoworks...(?)
    Thank you a lot and best regards
