RCS&RDS to launch 3G services by end of February

Mobile operator RCS&RDS will start providing 3G services by the end of February 2007 after winning Romania's third 3G license last fall, reports Romanian news source Nine o'Clock.

Nine o'Clock reports that the operator has already transferred $10.5m for the first instalment of the spectrum release tariff, which is equal to 30 per cent of the total license cost. RCS&RDS still owes $35m, which it will pay in five annual instalments until 2012.

The license is valid 15 years and can be extended for another 10 years upon request.
