    Default Universial Remote

    Hello there,
I have a couple of universal remote controls and I need help to configure them for my TV & Satellite receiver & AV receiver.
I have the code numbers but don't really know how to program the remote, guess most universal remotes have similar process, will appreciate the help.

usually, you press on function 1 (led lamp will be active) then key in the code for the device and press set (or ok) then led lamp will deactivate. do the same for other functions. so far i have been unlucky with these universal remotes, working only on VHS or TV sets, not on satellite boxes and AVR units. good luck.

Thank you Mr Boknoy, youve always been helpful, I have tried your method but did not work. Will appreciate if somebody knows alternate options.
    Thanks

on the most common universal remote that i have used, i can see tv1, tv2, vcr and sat. there is even the "scan" button, though i see no point using that one.

if you can specify which universal remote you are using and which hardware you wish to control, then maybe we might be able to find specific answers for that.

I have a Selevision sat receiver with UNi remote control, it has buttons on the top for TV, VCR,AUX & SaT which glow when pressed.
In the user manual it has 8-10 pages of codes, but no process.
The other Uni remote I have is Pioneer VSX 815 (AV Receiver).
On both I need to control/use my TV

if your booklet has different codes for other devices, then it also has set up instructions for the particular univ/remote. if it cannot work as per instructions, try auto search/per instructions. if that too doesnt work the the remote could be faulty or your tv has no codes reg. on the remote. dont give up within 15mins

Thanks Mr. Boknoy that was a very useful link & has been bookmarked.
Here is how mine gotta work, after seeing the various options listed, for various Uni remotes. As my remote was tailor made for the STB it was not listed.

Since I needed to use my Uni remote from my STB, the TV had to be turned on.
The Uni remote had to be switched to TV mode
Hold TV button & OK button simultaneously for 2 secs,
    TV botton glows
    Input code & press ok
Keep trying the listed codes until the TV switches off.
Press TV button again & the code is recorded.
    Now try out the remote....

The site also gives useful info to cancel some codes & reprogram the remote.
