Slovakia: TV companies to be banned from increasing volume for commercials
Friday, January 5th, 2007

An amendment to the law on broadcasting and retransimission - banning any increase in the sound volume for television commercials and teleshopping as of February, 1 2007 - was signed by President Ivan Gasparovic on Tuesday. The adoption of this amendment was initiated by co-ruling LS-HZDS MP Zdenka Kramplova, who claims that this measure is recommended by child psychologists because over-loud television commercials are thought to have a disturbing effect on children.
