Al Jazeera names the day

Al Jazeera has announced its English language channel Al Jazeera International will launch on November 15, 2006 after months of delay. Transmissions will commence at 12.00 GMT from the broadcaster’s headquarters in Doha. The channel is aiming to provide a voice to underreported regions around the world. Director-general Wadah Khanfar promised the channel would provide impartial and balanced journalism to the English-speaking world. Broadcast centres in Doha, Kuala Lumpur, London and Washington DC will provide hourly bulletins with features and interviews in the back half hours. The launch of Al Jazeera International coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Arabic language channel.
