If you used the same cable before it must be the software is not compatable with your model as there are a lot of different models Starsat.

check your port assignment at control panel/system/device manager/ports to coincide with your loader.

instead of using usb , try com port(9 pin) if your laptop having one.
    similerly try different com port(com1,2...)
rs232 cable should be null modem
    open the loader
    given start
    waiting boob will appear
    given ok
then the uploading will start or some error messagewill come

if all this will not work try from a desktop pc 9 pin com port. it will work
    hai every body

he wont be using a usb-serial adaptor if his lappy already has a com port.

the problem with these adaptors, they are finicky when it comes to drivers.

when i plug in the USB cable , the system automatically detects it ...While using simple loader (which comes with each versions of starsat updates ) it shows -- "waiting for BooB" only on com1 , if i select any other com port in simple loader, it shows com error..i tried with straight cable and cross cable ( from the com port of the USB -RS 232 cable ) , but of no use. I tried using different drivers for the USB - RS232 cable ... do i have to check anything else

Tom-----> as boknoy mentioned, I dont have a com port on my laptop

xNowell ------> i'm sure the bin file is ok...i had uploaded the same bin file from my desktop computer to the receiver

Fred ----> software is also ok ... it was working fine from my pc

ok, which chipset it is using. could be drivers issue. if it is somehow working on com1, then configure it as such. but go back to control panel/system/hardware/device manager/comports properties/advanced and lower down the buffer settings. the buffer setting usually corrects most connection errors.

if that does not solve the problem, try to find out the chipset it is using or at least the manufacturer, maybe you need updated drivers.
