As far as I know it's just that- a card. It, together with a card reader/writer for your computer can open additional packages like cyfra+ and D+. However I'm also just gathering info.

as stated, it is one of the newer generation programmable cards available in the market such as Opos, Cerebro, etc that should give you the ability to view encrypted channels. since most cams are dying or almost dead, most of the time because of the memory capacity limitation on the CAMs themselves, the option therefore is to buy newer generations card that just may extend the life of your dying/dead cam.

Boynoy_ph makes this sound like a technical issue. This is at best true only for some of the older cards/devices, Actually it is more about the strategy used by the commercial pirates to derive income for their work by creating a series of secure platforms (i.e. cards/CAMS) for their firmware/software that can be sold to people like us. The economics of this depend on the card (Opus, Cerebro, K3, whatever) working for only a limited period, before one is required to buy the next one. So keep saying it is just technology marching on mate, and perhaps somebody. somewhere will believe you!

no, you still need the dragon loader card to reprogram your dragoncam, if that's what you are asking. you will need the k3, cerebro, etc to EXTEND the functionality of your dying/dead dragoncam.

yes, in part this is all about business strategy. stop support for a device a market a "newer, with more capabilities" device. that's how technology evolves, otherwise, we would all be stuck on Ford's T1 since you can ride on that one and it brings you from point A to point B, right?

when you stop moving up, the only tendency is to go down..........

I'm slightly confused about the vocabulary- by CAM do you mean the card reader/writer? If so, say I have a card reader/witer and some cards and can update them (like K3) it's possible for me to go on many months till that card goes out of date and update the card myself?

    boknoy_ph,
you are dead wrong m8. Newer cars offer you more speed, comfort, safety, etc., while new cards offer you absolutely the same service as the old ones only at much higher price, which is known all over the world as 'rip-off'. Don't give us this bullshit about tech & progress. In this case it is absolutely inappropriate.

You can get Seca2 working on a gold card then
    can't see that happening somehow

then can you compare the functionality of your funcard to a k3/cerebro/etc? i think not.... some would call these a rip-off since most people expect to buy a card and use it til they can hardly press the remote control keys, let alone remember how to use it.

some files for Cyfra+ was released for K3 from JKF. if you have any arguments against that, then ask JKF forum about the validity of their claim.

CAM = conditional access module. it can READ your cards, and descramble the encrypted channels.
card reader/writer is self explanatory. you need this to write bin/upd/etc files to your card so that you can use it on your CAM.

I never cease to be amazed at what people will swallow. Elsewhere on this forum you will see that D+ is now available again for most emus (which shortly with include Dragon). This has almost nothing to do with the technology and everything to do with hacking the keys. I say almost nothing because one obviously needs something from the past couple of years, rather than ancient history as represented by our friend's utterly inappropriate example of the goldcard. The technical difference between say a Tit and a K3 isn't what explains the present availability of more packages on the latter: the explanation is precisely what I said above.
