Default MGM lion roars in sub-saharan Africa

The MGM Channel has secured distribution across sub-saharan Africa following a new deal with fledgling satellite service My TV. MGM will sit alongside channels including BBC World, Fox Sports, Trace TV, MCM Pop, MCM Top, Eureka!, Baby TV, Fashion TV Adventure 1 and AIT. “The inclusion of western movies on the MGM Channel in the My TV bouquet will complement the news, music, children’s, sports, documentaries and local African programming currently available,” said John Tydeman, Chief Operating Officer of My TV. MGM, which already has extensive distribution in Asia and Central and East Europe, draws on the world’s largest collection of modern films. My TV was developed by the Dubai-based Strong Technologies with local offices in Abuja, Nigeria. It broadcasts from PanAmSat 10 at 68.5 degrees East.
