When mobile telephones were introduced in India, one had to pay Rs 6 - 8 p.m. to receive a call & the same to make a call.
Today receiving incoming calls are free & out going calls are Rs 1 only, one of the lowest prices in the world. The same is expected to happen soon in the coming few months to DTH in India, there is going to be price war to get the market share.
Others claim that it could be a fight between them to give better content to lure in the customers. Whatever is going to happen its the customer who is going to benifit.
For the broadcasters getting the revnue from advertisements is going to be only limited as TRAI the Government authority has put a time limit of only 8 minutes for ads for every 60 mins, & 2 mins for channel promotion, thanks for these small mercy's or else we could be paying & bombarded to watch ads as well. This will be monitored as well & people are free to report any violations of the clause.
Reliance is yet to take off the blocks, but when ready it could give the two a run for their money.
All of them will try to lure in customers through price cutting & offering hardware at cheap prices.
As mentioned earlier the goverment will not allow monopoly by one provider, which means that all the 3 could be providing similar content.
The biggest benificiary in this war will be the customer, heard someone say "CUSTOMER IS THE KING" that will be true SOON!
