    Default Data Transfer Cable


    I just want to check if theres a 15 pin male and 9 pin female cable for upgrading receiver coz my laptop has a 15 pin female! Your reponse is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

    15 pin female connector is used for external display on Laptop,,go for USB to serial adapter

    Sir, do you mean USB to 9 pin female cable? coz i have receiver with 9 pin male..

    Sir, do you mean USB to 9 pin female cable? coz i have receiver with 9 pin male..

    your Laptop doesn't have serial port i,e 9 pin so you need a serial port to transfer data

    and you still need an adaptor for the usb to serial cable. this adaptor should have pins 2 connected to 3 and pin 3 connected to 2 and pin 5 to pin 5.

    i will buy usb to serial cable and i have a 9pin female to female cable (RS232). Bme, what else do i need? Thanks a lot

    It is called a NULL cable. There was a detailed thread about it here but I cannot find it. Use google for NULL cable.

    lots of luck? make sure you get the correct drivers for your usb-serial adaptor as these devices tend to be a bit finicky when it comes to drivers.

    have tried B4 but very few drivers have a com port for usb, since the option is mostly upto com port 3

    I use a Prolific based usb-serial cable I bought from the local carrefour supermart. It has a com selection up to com256.No I have not tried all of them I only use com1.

    the comport settings can be configured via control panel/system/device manager/comports/properties/advanced/port settings.

    Hi,

    I have usb cable. & also null modem cable. Null modem cable works fine with PC & Humax .
    Now I need to connect Humax to Notebook using USB cable. I tried but not working. I tried to connect null modem cable between Humax & USB cable . BUt stll no communication between Notebook & Humax.

    Can anybody suggest what I have to do , to make this working.

    if that is a prolific based chipset (you can see that on control panel/system/device/comports) try downloading the latest drivers from www.prolific.com.tw

    after successfully installing the drivers and you connected the usb converter, go back to control panel, system, device manager, comports, right click on the prolific com port (usually the port assignment is com4 or higher) and modify the comports properties to MATCH the settings on your humax software e.g: com1 to com1, port speed, etc.
