1.) Open up Windows Explorer and click on the "Tools" menu then "Folder Options". We want to remove the checkmark from "Use Simple File Sharing".
2.) Confirm you actually have "File/Print Sharing" services enabled as well for your Network Connection. If it's missing, you will need to add "File/Print Sharing":
3.)Now we are going to setup a user account under Windows for the Dreambox. Right click the "My Computer" icon, and left click on Manage, you will be taken to Computer Management. Expand the "Local Users and Groups" menu, and right click on the left hand side and select "New user".
Call this user account "dream", and also use the user/password of "dream". Also note the enabled checkmarks, now click on "Create" and exit Computer Management.
4.)Now we are going to create a shared folder. Choose any folder you want on your computer, and create a sub folder called "movie". The "movie" subfolder must be present, in other words do not share the "movie sub folder, but rather it's parent directoy. Right click the parent folder of "movie" and choose Properties, then click on the "Sharing" tab, and you will see the following screen. Lets type in "dreambox" for the "Share name".
TIP - If using a FAT32 partition for storage, your file size is restricted to 2GB. So ensure your Dreambox Record settings are 2GB or lower per part.
5.)Now we need to set the permissions for this folder. Click on Permissions button, and enable the checkmarks under "Allow" for "Full Control", "Change", and "Read". Click Apply then OK, and click OK again. That's it for the PC side. Now off to the Dreambox
6.) Now to configure the Dreambox. With the remote go to Menu/Setup/Expert Setup/Communications, and click the Blue button to access the Mount Manager. This is where we need to enter in the settings for the Dreambox to access the PC. All you will need to change is the IP to match your PC. Be sure to enable automount so the Dreambox will establish the connection everytime it's restarted.
Once the information is entered in, be sure to save it, and then mount it. If it works, it will say success. If it fails, it will say failure - so re-read this again and figure out where you went wrong. You can now record to your pc, and access your PC in the Dreambox File mode under /hdd.
