Default What kind of a forum is this

Everyone is sharing the info via private e-mails instead of making it public which is the basic idea behind ANY forum.
This situation simply doesn't make sense.

I've in mind the threads concerning s/w for Starsat receivers, because that's what I'm following closely. Due to 'no love shared' between some of the members precious info is being shared via PMs instead of being made public for the forum members. I don't believe this situation benefits the forum and its members.

Some info can be shared publicly, some delicate info cannot because big brother or the big bad wolf is browsing the forum.

    Default RDI Forum

RDI Forum is a Forum where any registered members can ask questions about technical data about Satellites. n its encryption system.
At times supplying of keys n codes in Public are very delicate n only accessable to the original receiver.
He may or may not disclose in public, this may discrimate him in some way
For example If I have the encryptions codes/keys of some channels of Asia Sat 3.I would disclose them privately.
To disclose them publicily, I may be in hot water from the original
source who gave me the codes/keys.
This may be the main reasons may PMs are made.
    Thanks for reading my mail.

It is a ell known fact that service providers [ pay subscription people]
read these forums.. which is fine..

but it;s also possable that if they see encryptions , keys, or Pid's splashed all over the forum, it's an open invite to change them, So people that have them, have access to them or can generate them , keep them to themslves, and do use the PM system to relay them to there fiends.

This is both good and bad, depending on your perspective, people that can generate keys, don't like to supply them willy-nilly,, most people that are in a key circle, all contribute evenly.. There are no Gimmies..

How many times do we read posts, that simly demarned keys, or want software, These people contribute nothing, they only take,, Quite often, the material is already there for them, and a simply bit of research will find it. But no, It's simpler to say "I want keys for some such channel"

I have been involved with forums, where there are no posts only PM traffic
and strangers ask, what's the point of the forum.. The answer is simple, It's for a private xchange of info. nothing more nothing less
    regards from OZ bassett

It makes sense to a lot of people matey.

I share a lot of info openly and some by emails only.

Then I also have a forum as well. Lot's of nice things on there but only if you live in the country where I am.

Many people are trying to copy others sites and this can lead to confustions as to who is really who.

    To whom it may concern
The ethimology of the word 'forum' derives from 'a public place'. Anything that is private can be called any names but 'forum'. A 'private forum' is nonsense, an oximorone.
