i think mytheatre ups them all when it comes to functionality, next in my list is DVBdream, though it uses less cpu cycles, it does not match the functionality of mytheatre (this is not free, and yes, cracks abound in the net). as for progdvb... well, i'll rest my case here. the bugger refused to detect my twinhan card when i was in vacation last month after updating the software. and considering the heat and humidity in philippines, i did not have the patience to have it working before i got back here, lol.

which of the above programmes accepts use with a rcvr or decorder through the rs 232, and not like skystar 2 or a pci card.
maybe one or none just want to know?

None, these programs are only designed to be used with PC dvb cards/devices only, not for any receiver. BTw, why you want to connect these programs to Receiver ?

I have tried mytheatre and ProgDVB. In my opinion, the latter works "Out of the Box", whereas the first needs lot of tweaking. So far, I have not been able to get mytheatre to work fully. I had to struggle a lot to just get some picture. There is an option "Video On/Off". This feature is undocumented (or am I missing something here?). It is not turned to On by default, and has to be set to ON manually to get the picture.

Next problem with tuning. Whereas ProgDVB could tune all the satellites correctly in my configuration, mytheatre got me only PART of channels on Asiasat3s, whereas it failed to get even the signal from other satellites. LNB & Diseq settings is of not much help, as it does not give any more option than selecting just a C-Band or a Ku-Band, and assigning the port.

It is possible that the problems that I am facing are unfound of or maybe I am missing some critical point. Could someone help please?

And yes, ProgDVB is a CPU and Memory hogging program. It slows down the computer even after the program is closed.

Regarding Picture quality, it depends on the graph (filters and codecs together).

I have not given a try for other viewers. I will spend some time on them too whenever it is possible.

if i remember it correctly, progdvb can interface with a nokia 9600 box, some tweaks by dr.overflow from way back.
