National Radio of Laos and the Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) should increase cooperation and mutual help to better fulfill the political missions they have been assigned by the two parties and states, said newly-elected Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh of the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos. At a reception in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on June 14, VOV Director Vu Van Hien congratulated Mr Bouphavanh, who is also politbureau member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, for his election as Prime Minister of Laos.

Mr Hien also informed the Prime Minister of the outcome of the cooperation between VOV and National Radio of Laos in recent times. The Lao Prime Minister highly valued the cooperative relations between the two agencies that have facilitated the dissemination of policies and plans by the two parties and states.

In the morning on the same day, the Vietnamese delegation held a working session with representatives from the National Radio of Laos, led by Director General Bounthanh Inthaxay. Part of the meeting involved evaluations of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding during the 2005-2008 period. Both Vietnamese and Lao officials agreed on further cooperation in information exchange and technical capacity enhancement through exchanges of experts, journalists and reporters.
