Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) has inked a multi-year agreement with HanseNet in Germany that brings a slate of its upcoming, current and library movies to the new set top box VOD and TV service Alice homeTV, which launched today.

The deal gives Alice customers access to properties from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films, including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and its upcoming sequel, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest; recent titles like Flightplan; library features, as well as German acquisitions such as Die Wilden Kerle 3.

The deal also includes provisions for BVITV and Alice to cooperate in anti-piracy initiatives. Under the agreement, Alice will forward notices to its Internet subscribers allegedly engaged in the unauthorized distribution of BVITV's copyrighted works, without identifying the subscribers to BVITV.

BVITV’s EVP and MD for EMEA, Tom Toumazis, commented, “We’re pleased to be working with HanseNet both to offer Alice homeTV’s subscribers this strong selection of our movie content, and to help promote and grow the use of legitimate, quality download services across Germany. Piracy is a threat to both of our companies, and it’s important for us to work together in fighting this issue.”
