I have skystar 2 (and one dish pointing to the hotbird satellite). My verdict- it's 100% worth it. Here is a thread about viewable channels:

the list from which you took those channels was not made by me. The satellite with the channels you just mentioned is below the european horizon so I cannot view it ( which is a big shame since I spent 4 years in asia and during that timr became very accustomed to star world, hbo, star movies, etc). The english channels I can confirm personally are on hotbird (13.0 degrees) :

    1. BBC World, CNN, Euronews- news every hour, other small programs that usually last for half an hour or so,bbc news has programs like ‘click’- a stuff in the world of technology, the world uncovered- about less known problems of the world, CNN has an equivalent of ‘click’ called ‘Next’, which focuses more on new technology in general, while click focuses on the internet more.
    2. BBC prime- different programs from documentaries to drama to children’s programs created by the BBC. Has very nice documentaries like ‘massive nature’ about how large groups of different species compete in the savage world, also ‘Big Cat Diaries’- about the life of, yes you guessed it- cheetahs, lions, jaguars and the bunch. It has some dramas and soap operas too, but I’m not too fond of them, dunno. Oh, almost forgot, Top gear Xtra- a very nice program about expensive cars, lot’s of humor in it, fun to watch.
    3. Multivision 1-7 – these ones show recent movies, though they update like once a week
    4. cartoon network*, boomerang- cartoon channels, boomerang is available in 2 versions that are softcam-compatible
    5. cinemax *– movie channel, there is also cinemax 2 but it’s only in polish
    6. CNBC- economy channel, at 11 pm CET shows The tonight show, then conan obrian
    7. SF2, TSR1, TSR2, TSI1,TSI2 – german and French channels that often show popular American tv series in English (set the audio to English and “RIGHT”, if you have 5.1 surround sound like I do disable central speaker), “Lost” airs on SF2 on 6:40 pm CET, “oliver beene” followed by the Simpsons air on SF2 at 5 pm CET, many more
    8. Bloomberg- financial news
    9. Motors TV- channel about motor sports
    10. ESP Int’l- sports channel
    11. Fashion TV- fashion shows
    12. Arirang TV- Korean English Channel
    13. Playboy TV*- from 9:00 CET
    14. TPS Cineclub, Cinecomedy, Cineculte, Cinefamily, Cinextreme, Star – Awsome French channel with truckloads of quality programs in English, just seen the movie ‘Spaceballs’ on Cinecomedy which I wanted to see for a long time, not as good as I expected but still quite entertaining. Cinecomedy often shows multiple ‘Scrubs’ episodes- a funny show about med students.
    15. Pink Tv - some English programs
    16. Spice plantinum- 24 hour hardcore porn

    *- Cyfrowy Polsat, sometimes unavailable

    Music channels:
    1. M6 Music Black
    2. M6 Music rock
    3. M6 Music Hits
    4. Fun tv
    5. VIVA polska – my fav. Music channel
    6. Music Nation TV
    7. MCM Erope
    8. RTL 102.5
    9. 4Fun.TV
    10. Music Box Italia
    11. COUNTDOWN
    12. 123 Sat/ 69 xtv
    13. DANCE TV
    14. CRO MUSIC CHANNEL
    15. MTV 5- music and mtv programs in English, like pimp my ride, jackass, viva la bam
    16. MTV F
    17. MTV Polska*
    18. VH1

at first this may not seem like much, but these days I manage to get all the quality commercial-free tv I need (which in my case is a lot )
