    Hi colo007

wise thinking but get the beams from "Lyngsat website" and try if you can get the particular satellites, before you think of hacking.

It is impossible to receive Hotbird in Mauritius - except you have a MONSTER DISH.
In South India it is still possible to receive Hotbird and I am in Sri Lanka and there it is even more difficult - until now I get only analog channels but adjustment is still not complete. And my dish (solid) is 6 meters.
Please see the footprints for Hotbird.
CanalSat Reunion ist hackable (mediaguard) and Viaccess2,3 from Parobole too - but there are no public keys.

I receive from Hotbird Duna TV 10815H and BBC 11114V both analog with a reasonable picture.
    And from Arabsat @ 26East I get the vertical frequencies.The strongest signal I get on 11150V SR 11850 FEC3/4.
I have to make some more adjustments to improve the signal.
To find the satellites try first the analog channels for Hotbird and Arabsat as well.
By the way - what kind dish and LNB do you have?
Tell me some more and I can better help you.
    And what's your exact location?
    Greetings
    Kaefi

    Hi,
    So you are in Male...
To receive C-Band from Arabsat is very easy,Ku is more difficult but you are even closer to the KU/Footprint than me.
Please note that the C and Ku Footprints are different!
But a 6 feet dish is not enough!
My dish has 20feet and is solid.
I get for ex. Rotana Clip on 11150V with 75% Signal and 100% Quality.
But only in the afternoon and evening and early night.
In the morning I have only 35% Signal.
If you try to get Arabsat KU than first check 11075V,that's analog (PAL) and Audio is 6.60.
To get Analog is much easier than Digital.
I hope that you have successand for more Infos about frequencies etc visit http://www.lyngsat.com/index.html
    Greetings from Sri Lanka
and if you like, you can see more from my dish @ http://www.kolbundco.de/BlueNote-Antenne.htm

    Hello IPTV,
I think you have a C-Band mesh dish - with such a dish you can not receive Arabsat or Hotbird.
To tell a little more about dishes and signal strength:
I have a 3feet offset dish with Invacom 0,3db LNB.On NSS6 I have a signal of 85%.Now I have fixed the same LNB on my 10 **** mesh dish and the signal on the same freq. is only max 40% !
    But anyhow - try it.

and for msalman - you forgot, that I am in Sri Lanka.
In the south it is easier to receive the vertical beams than the horizontal.
I also know from several people in India, that they get in the north easy the H Pol. and the have difficulties with the H Pol.
And in South India it's just the opposite.
The strongest signal from Arabsat I get is on 11150V SR 11850 .
Early in the morning (4AM) I have 82% Signal and 100% Quality.
But on 11662 I have only 55% Signal and 80% Quality.
And from 11642H (MBC) I have NO signal.
I get the Orbit Network, but only on 11175H (no picture because its scrambled) with 35% and 11023H (Kuwait TV) also with 35%.
And now I can see (its 5AM) the signal from 11150 is getting weaker - now only 75% - I will also check during the next hours.
    Greetings from Hikkaduwa

    Hello again,
with a 30 feet solid solid dish you should receive Hotbird.
Exact adjustmet of azimut and elevation is quite difficult.
    So some hints.
Use Gorbtrack which yoy can download @ http://members.chello.nl/~berry.walda/GorbTrack_NL.htm
you have to insert the country file for the maldives:
    http://earth-info.nima.mil/gns/html/cntry_files.html
this is a Zip file - extract it to C:\Program Files\GorbTrack\Countries
but this file has only 29 destinations.
If your destination is not included, you can also insert your position manually under Location in Gorbtrack.
Look and see when your satellite has exact the same elevation like the sun and with the help of the shadow of the LNB on the dish direct the dish to the sun.
The Azimuth you can not find now with the help of the sun, because the sun has crossed the aequator - I did it last month and immediately I had a signal from Hotbird.
And really better to try first the analog channel (DunaTV) with an analog receiver.Analog receiver are not expensive.
Anyhow what kind spectrum analyzer do you have?

    Your other questions: I receive NSS6 Indian Beam @ 95 and PAS12 @ 45 Degree with 2 small Offset dishes (2 & 3 feet)
And I know the Maldives - I went there several times.

    Greetings and much luck.
    Kaefi
