The Ariane 5 ECA launch with HOT BIRD™ 7A is postponed

Ariane 5 mission has been postponed following an anomaly with ground support equipment that is used to prepare the launch vehicle at Europe's Spaceport.

Both the heavy-lift Ariane 5 ECA and the HOT BIRD™ 7A satellite are in a safe mode.

The new date, 22nd February 2006 is given assuming that ground equipment anomaly is taken care of and every thing is ready to blast off the lift.

So your information copied here is now old and not valid, unless there is another postponement. But its reasons would surely be different.

The new launch date for Arianespace's heavy-lift Ariane 5 mission with SPAINSAT and HOT BIRD 7A has been tentatively set for Friday, February 24.

This will allow for additional preparations following the discovery of an anomaly with ground equipment earlier this week at Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.

The new launch date will be confirmed by press release on Thursday, February 23.

The Ariane 5 and its dual-satellite payload remain in a safe condition in the ELA-3 launch zone at the Spaceport.
