Humax has certification from German pay-TV platform Premiere and is to begin significant shipments of its HDTV receiver. The Humax PR-HD1000 is a single chip solution based on the MPEG4/H.264 standard. It carries the conditional access system Nagravision, two common interface slots, HDMI out, and two Scart connectors. There is also an optical digital connector for Dolby surround sound. The receiver will also handle the DVB-S2 compression system. The company says that “large quantities” will be made available both to the retail trade and direct to the broadcaster by the end of January. The receiver will be available at retail for €399 or with a Premiere subsidy at €149 when taken with the Premiere Komplett and Premiere HD packages.
