    @usman,
    what do you mean by open to unzip the file or to edit the file? if you want to unzip the file after download you must have program winzip or winrar, if you want to edit the file you must have hexdec editor or some file can open and edit in notepad. Gud luck

    is the file extention already in bin, or in rar, or zip? if you are trying to edit the bin file yourself & make some patches you need simple hex editor or the much powerfull disassembler & add commands !

    don't feel bad if we're asking some question, most specially for those not familiar with the english language- as much as possible give all the info. we are all here to help each other. what one knows others don't- its exchange of knowlege & what they call in business mindset technology transfer..

    If you receiver requires a .bin file for updates, then it must have a loader
    program that will download the bin to the receiver.
    Search for a loader for your brand/model of receiver.

    How can open a ".bin" file as a "sourcecode" (ie like C++) file

    "bin" stands for Binary. That means, the contents of this file is in binary format. You cannot read them normally using a text viewer (like notepad). You can view the contents in Hex format using Hex viewer programs like Ultraedit, or Hex Workshop (later is my favourite).

    What you see in a Hex viewer is not understandable unless you know what you are looking at. For example, the bin file for receivers that have a STI5518 processor, the contents of the file is the program code that the CPU executes. You have to disassemble the code and then read it. For this, you should have a programming knowledge of that processor.

    Hope this introduction will answer your question.

    Use IDA Pro and you should know that which Compiler was original used to compile that .bin file and for which processor it is ment to work.

    yes Noy mate, UltraEdit will open all types of files in binary format. but if you need to open it in a programming understandable format or decompile it, we can use IDA Pro. and prior to open it in IDA Pro disassembler we should know which compiler was used to compile the .bin file and for which processor it was written for.
