German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland will offer its subscribers more live sports in high-definition from August 2011. Sky Sport HD Extra will launch on 6 August for the kick-off of the new football Bundesliga season. The new channel will show an additional Bundesliga game in high-definition each Saturday afternoon - in parallel with the live highlights show "Sky Konferenz" on Sky Sport HD 1 and the game on Sky Sport HD 2.
Sky Sport HD Extra will also enable Sky to screen more matches from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the DFB Cup in HD including all games of the German teams in the Champions League.
The new channel, which will be available via satellite and on selected cable networks, can be received by all subscribers signed up for the football Bundesliga package and the sports package in HD.
With the new addition, Sky will offer a total of 29 HD channels including five sports channels. In Winter, 24 hour sports news channel Sky Sport News HD will launch which will be available to all subscibers through basic package "Sky Welt".
