you can only do so much on a 56k connection, lol. there are a lot of chinese made products for usb 56k modems. im not sure if the big companies like us robotics even made them, but if they do, then get a usr. may i ask why you choose usb over the regular pci or com port external modems? from experience, us robotics external proved to be the best when it comes to stability and performance, be it 56k, or adsl. with the exception of belkin and the latest linksys adsl routers.

hehehe, you can connect at maximum 53K (that's from your line to the ISP). the actual throughput will vary depending on the quality of your line, and reliability of your ISP to deliver whatever measly data you can get off a 56k connection (i know, im on a 56k myself).

I got a D-Link USB modem (DU-560M). Good performance, and a lot cheaper than a US Robotics. Available in a lot of stores locally.

yeah, you can get 3 d-link for the price of one usr modem. for ordinary users, who reside on a single home but needs wireless, d-link/linksys will be ok. for finicky users and those who try to broadcast along multiple walls and greater distances, then the more expensive models is recommended. though the cost of a single expensive (usr for example) can also be divided by using a dlink/linksys then installing access points/range extenders along the way. there's a lot of options actually.
