Talking Android Now Running On iPhone 3G

Android Now Running On iPhone 3G

After just a couple more weeks of work, we've made tremendous progress and brought Android to the iPhone 3G. Although this port is slightly more rough than the previous Android on first-generation iPhone port, this marks an important milestone for the more DIY-minded owners of the millions of iPhone 3G devices that are out there.
Now you can use the Android OS to browse the web and run any application that does not require audio support, as well as send and receive SMS text messages over the cell phone radio.
If you want to try it yourself, you'll have your chance in a couple of days when the packaged binaries and instructions for the 3G are posted.

We've also made several other improvements to the original port in this version. Along with many under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes, the Wi-Fi driver has been fleshed out with all the Android-specific extensions, making it more stable and reliable. We've also added an Android icon to the boot menu to make it more easily accessible..
Next up is audio support--we've already laid the groundwork for audio support on the 3G and gotten it working in our homemade bootloader, so support for audio in Linux/Android will be coming in a few days.
Also, look forward to improved power management and backlight control very soon. The hope is that you should soon be able to carry around your first-generation iPhone or iPhone 3G running Android and use it just as normally as you would any other Android phone.

Da , interesanta stire chiar daca este mai veche si as vrea sa citesc si reversul
Asta denota o flexibilitate mult mai mare a s.o android fata de cel original iphone , as vrea sa citesc/vad si telefoane care in prezent folosesc s.o android functionand cu s.o iphone-ului
Fiindca altfel vad ca ar fii ca "imperecherea receptor + cartela" a dth-urilor , adica ceva limitat

[UPDATED] iDroid Project Official iDroid V1.0 Release

    by nickp666 Wed Aug 04, 2010 7:31 pm
On behalf of the idroid dev team, I am proud to announce the release of iDroid v1.0 MoJo.

This release is presently for 2G & 3G.(Ipt1G is on the way, I just ran out of time)

    What is this?
This is the iDroid Project's first official release of Android Froyo for iDevices, built from the community source code repos at http://www.github.com/iDroid-Project

We decided to release our own official version because of the fragmentation of releases and user confusion, this has made bug tracking and dev progress difficult, this release hopes to counter that.

Why v1.0 seeing as its alpha?
Some people have asked why we have opted to use v1.0 even though this is not considered a stable release, the ONLY reason we did this, was so not to confuse people by using similar numbers to planetbeings original releases of donut.

    Kernel Note
The 2G kernel is adb over USB, wheras the 3G version is adb over WiFi, this was an oversight (Just used alex's config without checking it) which will be rectified in the next release, I can also provide a 2G kernel without the usb gadget enabled if that is of any help.

    Whats new in this release?
More concise changes can be taken from the commit logs at our github repos, here are some of them:

    Pre-rooted
ultrasn0w is now implemented in the ril library in android, so everyone should have carrier unlock.
SD Emulation now complete for Froyo - without market issues. (/private/var/sdcard)
    WiFi on boot (once configured)
Accelerometer driver android side fixed, no longer gets stuck after lockscreen
    DTMF Tones

    How do I install this?
At present you will have to do it manually, detailed instructions are included within the release, see the INSTALL file in the archive.

    Release cycle
Minor releases will be put out whenever progress is made, I cannot give you timescales because I simply do not know - as soon as there is something that needs to be added, a minor release will be put out with the changes in it.

    Why MoJo?
    I don't know, ask Bluerise

    Known Issues
Loopback devices are presently not cleanly unmounted (as has been the case since day 1), as a result an integrity check is forced at startup slowing down boot time a little.
Lack of PMU - we still have no power management, this is being worked on and will appear in a later release as soon as it is ready.

    Reporting Issues/Requesting Features
We have a development tracker system set up to take bug reports and feature requests which you can find at: http://dev.idroidproject.org - please take the time to report any issues you find there.

    Downloads

DONT FORGET TO REPORT YOUR BUGS/ISSUES ON OUR ISSUE TRACKER - WE CANNOT FIX PROBLEMS WE DONT KNOW ABOUT!

Releases are available for download now (With the exception of the ipt1g release) at: http://idroid.nickpack.com/iDroid/of...Droid-Project/

2G Users will want the 1.0.1 version as this fixes an issue with 2G sound.

    @ruk22
