Default INSAT 4A - STAR India DTH

INSAT 4A launch scheduled for December 15th 2005 and its orbit position will be reach in around 2 months i.e. Feb 2005. Then TATA-STAR (T-SKY) will be running trial for a month before launching its TATA-STAR DTH Service similar to DISH TV & DD Direct + for Indian viewers using NDS encryption. Orbital position of INSAT 4A will be 83.0 Degree E. Promising 200 Channels on launch lets wait and see what comes out and whats the value for money they are offering. DISH TV has dropped prices quite a lot few months ago so TATA - STAR also need to be competitive to survive or launch in an exising market of 4 Million customers each already using DISH TV & DD Direct +

    Enjoy !

But Remember.. T-Sky telecast must be KU Band Transmission. So it is not possible to view it in Dubai. Can NSS6 (India Beam) be veiwable in Dubai? Insat 3A's Transmissiona are in C-Band and its beam can be viewed by lot of countries.

No. Iam not talking about Insat 3A C-Band. Two years ago, Zee Dish TV was first started using Insat 3A KU Band beam and it was not wide as NSS6 India beam . So it's very difficult to get in Dubai .

INSAT 4A, India's fourth generation communication satellite, is being readied at Kourou in French Guyana for a mid-December blast off atop an Ariane launcher.

Indian Space Research Organisation sources told UNI that the satellite, which reached the European Spaceport on October 25, was now being assembled for the launch.

Weighing 3,086 kg, the satellite would not only be the heaviest built by ISRO, but also have high power transponders both in KU Band and C Band. The KU Band transponders would be used for Direct to Home (DTH) television services. INSAT 3A, with a weight of 2,950 kg, was the previous heaviest satellite built by ISRO.

Though some of the transponders were being used for DTH operations, the KU band transponders would have more power and their footprint would be restricted only to India and parts of Bangladesh. However, the footprint of C Band transponders would touch Indonesia in the East and parts of Europe in the West, the sources said.

The sources said all the 24 transponders, including the 12 KU band transponders, have been booked with Tata-Sky Ltd. A Tata-Star DTH venture had leased eleven KU band transponders.

The solar sails onboard the satellite would provide a power of 5.5 kwh to the satellite.

Till the satellite was mated with the Ariane launcher, ISRO scientists camping in Kourou would carry out a series of activities preparing the satellite for the launch. (UNI)

    Hello friends,

Yes the T-Sky package will be KU Band as they have booked 11 transponders on INSAT 4A. Let's wait and see if we can watch it in Dubai or not depending on the footprints maybe a bigger size of dish might help to get this satellite in UAE since we are not far from Indian beam.

Thanks for pointing out that DISH TV was not available via INSAT have to wait and keep our fingers crossed until launch of T-Sky (Name might be changed at launch) too see viewability in Dubai.

I know that STAR will try to prtoect its content for Indian viewers only to protect there Middle Eastern revenue but let's see who wins the battle the wide SKY or T-SKY.

    Cheers !
