Sky Deutschland expands to Luxembourg
Sunday, 21 February 201
German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has commenced offering its channel line-up in neighbouring Luxembourg. The national post and telecommunications company P&T Luxembourg carries Sky’s packages on its IPTV platform Tële vun der Post.
On March 1 Eltrona and Nokia Siemens Networks will add the Sky channels to the triple play cable package Imagin. With the move, the Munich-based broadcaster extends its existing agreements for the distribution of selected channels from its portfolio in Luxembourg and becomes available under the Sky brand for the first time in the grand duchy.
The offer is only marketed by the two local partners and not by Sky itself while the selection of channels is decided by the partners and can differ from the German line-up for copyright reasons. Almost all of Luxemburg’s approximately 180,000 TV households receive television via cable or IPTV networks.
“Sky’s entertainment offer is very po....r in Luxembourg,” said Hans-Jürgen Croissant, Senior Vice President Communications at Sky. “We therefore expand our collaboration with our partners in Luxemburg and are now able to offer almost our complete line-up under the Sky brand.”
After Germany and Austria and - through local distribution partner Teleclub - Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Luxemburg is the fifth country in Sky Deutschland’s footprint.
