Smile Beetel S 25 MPEG 4 SD satellite receiver General Review

Beetel S 25 MPEG 4 SD satellite receiver General Review
    MPEG 4 Part 10 / H.264,
    Profile Level 3 ,
    Standard MPEG-2 ISO/IEC 13818,
    Resolution 720 x 576 PAL & 720 x 480 NTSC,
    A/V Out RCA/Coaxial,
    Serial port RS-232C 9 Pin.
    DiSEqc:1.0 & 1.2
    Teletext & EPG

    1. Operating function entirely different from normal MPEG 2 FTA receiver (this is my first MP 4 SD FTA receiver so no comparison).Hidden functions irritates to operate the receiver.
    2. Automatic Installation Function: I din’t find blind scan option, in automatic installation receiver searches already loaded transponder frequency. So manual frequency loading required.
    3. To edit Transponder, satellite, scan satellite & DiSEqC follow colour coding in the RCU.

    4. Manual Scan: All, Netwok Search & select scrambling services (conax, ...... etc)
    5. Auto DiSEqc : As in manual it should detect DiSEqC automatically when auto selection selected.(I tried with 5 DiSEqC it didn’t detected display shows no DiSEqC connected. I mixed both C & KU band ). DiSEqC selection Tone Brust, Poart A-D & Up 16 selection are there.
    6. Multi Picture Selection: choose between 4 to 16 windows. (Only one picture running)
    7. Select channels according to satellite, scrambling services, service provider etc

I paid 3300 INR.I din’t find blind scan option so not satisfied.

There are now many unbranded MPEG4 receivers available in the market Names I forgot but I think other than names most of them are same thing Cheapest thing for us at present is D2h as they are unlocked DVBS2 and costs 1600 with few months subscribition and we will also get Dish, LNB and cables. But lacks blind scan.

I second Rizwan, It would be more advice able to go for a Dvb-s2 as that is where satellite technology has migrated too.

Beware so some Dvb-s2 receivers as the miss some of the Audio and Video codecs thus the tend to be cheaper like Strong 4900 and 4910 Hd which are currently incapable of decoding some Audio AAC codec. When asked the software engineer at Strong Technologies in Dubai they replied "Although the SRT4900/10 is AAC compliant, It needs licence."

I would advice to check on such issues when sourcing for a Dvb-s2 receiver. Go for a receiver that supports 3rd Party applications like Dreambox 500hd, Dreambox 800Hd, AzBox Premium Plus HD and others.

Also forum support is a important factor to consider when choosing a Dvb-s2 receive.. The more website offering info, tutorial, firmware and update on a particular receiver the better for your learning and entertainment experience.

    Unhappy About the purchase

    Great purchase!
Why didn't you check all the functions at the place? Was there a guarantee card or something on this product?
One should be careful when buying something like that.
