Default Cyfrowy Polsat faces legal action

The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has initiated proceedings against Cyfrowy Polsat, the country’s leading DTH platform.

According to Wirtualne Media, the UOKiK objects to a specific clause in the contract Cyfrowy Polsat requires its subscribers to sign.

It gives the platform the right to withdraw TV channels or radio stations from its offer for a number of reasons, including low viewing/listening figures and reasons beyond Cyfrowy Polsat’s control.

Cyfrowy Polsat, which could be fined up to 10% of its annual income, has said it has been in negotiations with the UOKiK over a number of months about the contract and plans to introduce a new one shortly.

Autorităţile din România ar putea lua exemplu.
