Web page adminstrators, decoder distrubutors and local cable TV chiefs were among those arrested

50 people have been arrested in the first police operation in Europe against the pirating of television signals.

The arrests were carried out in 15 Spanish provinces and included 10 web page administrators, 22 distributors of TV decoders and 16 managers of local cable TV networks.

Two presidents of residential communities are also among the detained.

The group are thought to have distributed more than 1,000 decoders with altered software in order to receive satellite TV signals fraudulently, and to have made some 140,000 Ä so far.

Itís understood that both Spanish and European TV services were affected.

Read the posting ! Altered software...no mention of card share !
I repeat : the EU brought out a directive on sat broadcasting. Each EU country was to impliment it 'in principle' . Almost every EU country's laws permit ie do not make illegal ...non commercial sharing of cards.
Most permit pirating of services which cannot be legally subscribed to on the principle that you cannot steal what cannot be sold...ie the famous case of a corpse in the last century....special laws had to be implimented for that.
Of course copyright law and civil contract law is a different matter.
